The Office of the local Health Insurer or ZKV

IMPORTANT: When you are entitled to an health insurance via ZKV, please be sure you have registered. If you are not registered you have to pay all costs yourself. Registration to a medical practice will be handled by an employee of the ZKV. Within 5 weekdays you are being called by one our assistants whether you have a preference for a specific doctor.

The Public General Practice

Opening hours are from 5 pm until 11 pm on weekdays and from 8 am until 11 pm in the weekends. For urgent medical care at night one can go the emergency department of the hospital.

The 'Fundashon Mariadal' Hospital

When you need specialistic (second-line) care, you can go the Fundashon Mariadal Hospital. It is important that you have a referral issued by your GP. It is not possible to make an appointment by phone; please come and make an appointment with the specialist's assistant or secretary. For emergencies you can go immediately and without a doctor's referral to the emergency department.

Laboratory and results

There are two laboratories on the island. Both labs perform blood test and urinalyses. It is possible to make an appointment to have a medical assistant do the procedure at your home.
